Florida Judge Declares Healthcare Reform Law Unconstitutional

We all expected it, so it’s no surprise that yet another federal judge has declared President Obama’s healthcare reform law unconstitutional and keeping the case on track to ultimately be decided in the Supreme Court.  U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson has ruled that the entire healthcare reform legislation violates the U.S. Constitution and is unconstitutional.

“Regardless of how laudable its attempts may have been to accomplish these goals in passing the act, Congress must operate within the bounds established by the Constitution,” Vinson, who was appointed to the federal bench by Ronald Regan, wrote. “This case is not about whether the act is wise or unwise legislation. It is about the constitutional role of the federal government.”

“The judge has confirmed what many of us knew from the start: Obamacare is an unprecedented and unconstitutional infringement on the liberty of the American people,” Florida Governor Rick Scott, a Republican, said in a statement.

Even though Judge Vinson’s ruling sends healthcarereform one step further on its date with destiny and the Supreme Court, it changes virtually nothing for most of us in the meantime. Of the four federal courts that have heard cases on the healthcare reform law, two courts have upheld the law while two have ruled it uconstitutional.  An appeals court in Virginia is currently slated to rule on two of the conflicting rulings in May.

Do you think healthcare reform will be overturned by the Supreme Court?  Tell us about it!
