This is a quote from one of the article I've read.

"People frequently putoff scheduling for long term care for the reason that they don’t want to ponder about the stage when they might need it. The individuals first learn about long term care when they or a loved one desires care. Nevertheless, if you delay it until you want amenities to prepare for planning, the possibilities may be narrow."

You can now imagine that there are lots of elders suffer from their own age because they don't have any support. The fact that they let the chance passed of being tied with it. Mainly, because the lack of idea about it or just "they don’t want to ponder about the stage when they might need it" (the article says). However, in any case, knowledge is power and that power will save you from lots of worries. Do not avoid this. It will happen sooner or later. This Youtube long term care planning video might help you. Give it a shot.

Have you ever thought twice about going to see a doctor because you were afraid of the bill? And how long would you put it off if you thought that you or a family member might be very, very sick?

That's what's been on our mind when we read this story about Willie Hussing of Ohio. Willie was suffering from Hodgkin Lymphona for years without medical care before collapsing and dying in March, 2008:

The judge compared the autopsy photo of Willie's emaciated body to concentration camp victims. "If anybody, anybody, didn't know this kid was sick, they are seriously, seriously disturbed," Astrab said.

Two doctors told the judge before the sentencing that no sick child would be turned away from a hospital.

Willie Robinson collapsed at his home on March 22, 2008. Prosecutors say he had begged his parents to take him to see a doctor but was rejected. Hodgkin lymphoma is a highly treatable cancer.

Lillian Hussing said earlier the family didn't have money for medical care when they lived in Warren, tried repeatedly to get help from social services and visited a free clinic but left when told they would have to pay $180.

The family soon moved to Cleveland and the boy died within weeks.

Hodgkin lymphona is a highly treatable form of cancer. With treatment as many as 95 percent of patients in early stages of the disease survive for five years or more. It's one of the most common forms of cancers among children.

Okay, we are not recommending giving blood or plasma as a substitute for a doctor's visit, but we came across an interesting article about how some uninsured Americans are finding ways to patchwork together ways of taking care of themselves, and knew we had to share:

On a crisp November morning, cars slowly fill the parking lot of a clinic on Loop 288 in Denton. At 7:30 a.m. a woman signs in at the computer check-in station before her appointment. She is in good spirits as she punches in the necessary information. Her last appointment showed no irregularities and she expects the same results this time.

Check-in complete, a clinic employee ushers her to the back room.

She’s not seeing a physician before starting another long day of work. Nor is she visiting a health care facility.

She is donating plasma at BioLife Plasma Services — and using the procedures at the Denton branch as an early warning system for any urgent health issues.

At 54, Frances “Frankie” Rodriguez says she would buy health insurance if she could afford it. Because she doesn’t have health insurance, the blood screening at BioLife gives her some peace of mind and supplements her income at $50 to $60 per week.

“I figure they would tell me if something were really wrong,” Rodriguez says. “Then I would do my best to find the cheapest doctor around. I’d ask my co-workers, ‘Where’s a doctor that would do some cheap blood work?’ Or look in the phone book and start making some calls.”
