The Elizabeth Wende Breast Care, LLC in Rochester, New York along with the American Cancer Society and Cancer Services Program of Monroe County is offering free mammograms for uninsured women 40 years of age and older on June 9th from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Free mammograms are available to all women 40 and older without health insurance.
To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call Elizabeth Wende Breast Care at 442-2190 and select option 1. Please have your doctor’s name and also the name and location of any prior mammograms you may have had available for the center’s scheduling staff. A physician will be available for clinical breast exams.
Refreshments will be served (While you wait for your breast exam, sit by the fireplace enjoying a cup of tea!), so there’s no reason to wait to schedule an appointment for a mammogram! Even if you are unable to make it on June 9th, Elizabeth Wende Breast Care may be able to give you an appointment for a free mammogram on another day.
The American Cancer Society recommends that women receive an annual mammogram starting at age 40, obtain an annual clinical breast exam by a healthcare professional and perform monthly breast self-exams. Breast cancer is the disease many women fear the most, and early detection and treatment can dramatically improve a woman’s chances of survival. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, and leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women ages 40 to 55. If detected early – and mammography is the best way to do that – the five-year survival rate for patients is more than 90 percent.
