Generic Lipitor may have finally arrived this week, but we’re getting a few emails from folks who are asking us, What if they don’t want to switch to a generic version of Lipitor Well, rest assured that Pfizer is more than happy to keep your business for brand-name Lipitor, and is working overtime to come up with ways to keep you on the blockbuster cholesterol drug.
Lipitor $4 Co-Pay Cards
For most people, the cheapest option will be to use the Lipitor $4 Co-Pay card. Pfizer has been offering these cards for the last year, and there are no signs that they are cancelling the program with the launch of generic Lipitor.
Pfizer Pfizer offers the $4 Co-Pay cards for its blockbuster cholesterol drug Lipitor through its website. If you are eligible, you can start using the $4 Lipitor Co-Pay card right away to start saving on your Lipitor. If you haven’t signed up for the Lipitor Co-Pay Card, here’s the deal:
If your health insurance co-pay is:
• $54 or less, you pay only $4 a month for your Lipitor
• $55 or more, save $50 off your monthly cost, up to $600 of savings per calendar year.
What’s the Catch?
Not exactly a “catch,” but the $4 Lipitor Co-Pay card does come with some restrictions. This $4 Lipitor Co-Pay card is not valid if your prescription drugs are covered by Medicaid, Medicare or any other federal or state healthcare programs (including any state prescription drug assistance programs and the Government Health Insurance Plan available in Puerto Rico (formerly known as “La Reforma de Salud”). The $4 Lipitor Co-Pay card is not valid if you are covered by private insurance plans or other health or pharmacy benefit programs which reimburse you for the entire cost of your prescription drugs.
Even If You’re Not Eligible For the Lipitor $4 Co-Pay Card …
Even if you’re not eligible for the Lipitor $4 Co-Pay Card, you may not have to give up your brand-name Lipitor. Pfizer is practically paying people to keep taking brand-name Lipitor by giving health insurers and pharmacy benefit managers deep, deep discounts and incentives to keep filling prescriptions with brand-name Lipitor instead of the generic version of Lipitor. Pfizer is fighting to keep its Lipitor market share, and if that means cheaper Lipitor for you and me in the meantime, more power to them!
