As a follow-up to our blog yesterday on open enrollment and moving to a more affordable health insurance plan, we’ve found a great tool which we’d like to share with you. If you’ve ever tried to figure out which health insurance plan actually is the most affordable one for you and then been stumped as to how to begin, Money-Zine.com’s Health Care Insurance Cost Calculator can be a great place to start.
Money-Zine.com’s Health Care Insurance Cost Calculator is a free online tool which can help you compare healthcare options that you might be offered at work or when comparison shopping for health insurance. The calculator allows you to compare two health care plans at a time by plugging in factors like monthly premiums, copayments, deductibles and coinsurance payments.
The Money-Zine.com’s Health Care Insurance Cost Calculator isn’t a perfect tool. You do need to have some idea of how many times you’re likely to see a doctor and know whether you would be satisfied with in-network doctors or need to see out-of-network doctors. But it will give you a rough estimate as you’re working through your health insurance plan options, and let’s face it… most of us need all the help we can get!
